Lake of the Woods Trails

Lake of the Woods offers a diversity of trail opportunities, from paved bike paths to forested hiking, and a StoryWalk trail. The majority of hiking trails are located in Buffalo Trace. View the comprehensive Lake of the Woods site map here.

 

Buffalo Trace Perimeter Loop

2.8 mi  |  Mowed/Dirt | Flat | Elevation Gain: 128ft | Maximum Grade: 5%

This loop connects to many other trails inside Buffalo trace, all Buffalo Trace trails are located here. 

 

Bike Path

3.3 mi  |  Paved  |  Light hills  |  Elevation Gain: 71ft | Maximum Grade: 4%

ADA parking is available at all trailhead parking lots. Both Buffalo Trace parking lots have bathrooms, and the eastern lot has a water fountain. 

 

Floodplain Trail

0.2 mi  |  Dirt  |  Flat  |  Elevation Gain: 6ft | Maximum Grade: 1%

Crosses Bluebell Bridge and ends at the Covered Bridge. After heavy rainfall, this trail is particularly muddy. 

 

Rayburn-Purnell Woods

0.5 mi  |  Dirt  |  Flat  |  Elevation Gain: 19ft | Maximum Grade: 1%

Connects to the Bike Path.

Stidham Woods

1.2 mi  |  Mowed/Dirt/Paved  |  Flat  | Elevation Gain: 45ft | Maximum Grade: 1% 

Connects to the Bike Path.

Museum Meander Loop (Storywalk Trail)

0.7 mi  |  Mowed/Paved  |  Flat  | Elevation Gain: 22ft | Maximum Grade: 1% 

Connects to the Bike Path and Museum of the Grand Prairie.
